Make a difference on your career break

The Vodafone Group Foundation has launched their World of Difference campaign, searching for four candidates to put their career breaks to good use by working for a charity of their choice for one year.

Research commissioned by the foundation discovered that six million workers experience low points in their jobs on a daily basis, with 41 per cent believing that there is more to life than their current occupation. Many of those surveyed felt that taking a career break to pursue other interests and devote time to charity would boost their job satisfaction.

However, the survey also found that 70 per cent of workers felt that they could not afford to give up their jobs to do charitable work. The Vodafone Group Foundation will pay four individuals £25,000 towards their outgoings as well as £20,000 in expenses, which enables more people to apply.

The scheme has received support from a variety of charities and non-Governmental organisations. The charity must be UK-registered but applicants may work overseas or in their local area.

More information can be found at www.vodafonefoundation.org. The closing date for applications is 31 July.
