Professor Robert Upex
Barrister, Old Square Chambers
Robert Upex is interested in all aspects of Employment Law, particularly employment contracts, unfair and wrongful dismissal, transfers of undertakings and discrimination law. He is Professor of Law at the University of Surrey and from 2002-2005 was Head of the Department of Law. He was previously Head of the School of Law and Professor of Law at Kingston University.
He was a part-time Chairman of Employment Tribunals from 1985 to 1996 and a part-time Chairman of Social Security Appeals Tribunals from 1988 to 1991. He was Legal Adviser to the Local Government Staff Commission for England from 1994 to 1998.
From 1990 to 2005 he was General Editor of Sweet & Maxwell's Encyclopaedia of Employment Law.
