ISI Emerging Markets will provide LexisNexis with selected access to IntelliNews, the editorial and research arm of ISI Emerging Markets, which offers an editorial news service providing daily business news and reports for over 15 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and North African Countries.  This agreement further strengthens the LexisNexis database content and coverage of these regions which are increasingly important to customers operating in the global marketplace.   The material will be available on the Lexis Nexis platform by 11am GMT.

Bob De Laney, LexisNexis Director of News & Business, comments, “This agreement with ISI Emerging Markets provides our Nexis and NexisDirect customers with additional valuable insight through English-language coverage across Middle-Eastern, Central and Eastern European and North African regions.  This is in response to growing customer demand for accurate and authoritative business intelligence from emerging markets worldwide, and we are committed to further expansion of this wider coverage.”

LexisNexis expands UK regional coverage

LexisNexis, a leading provider of information and business solutions, today announced an agreement expanding its relationship with Johnston Press to enable 154 regional UK newspapers from the publisher to be indexed and analysed through the LexisNexis Business Intelligence tools, including Nexis, LexisNexis Analytics, Nexis®Direct and Publisher. This is an agreement that increases the LexisNexis volume of UK and Irish newspapers by almost 50%.

Bob De Laney, LexisNexis Director of News & Business, said: “Since 2008 LexisNexis has significantly increased the breadth and depth of its UK and Irish regional newspaper coverage by adding over 345 titles from Aberdeen Journals, MGN, Newsquest, Kent Messenger, Northcliffe and Johnston Pressa range of publishers.  Our services now provide coverage across every UK region,  and now coverswith 458 national and regional newspapers in total.

“It is usually these smaller local press outlets that carry vital intelligence on regional companies that the national press will not; such as for example, a privately held, £5M turnover company or local bank/accountancy. These sources also provide updates on transactions, redundancies, executive moves and M&A that traditional company information providers might miss, which makes this an important resource for business development and competitor insight teams.

“We are continuing to develop the content to ensure we deliver the broadest and most comprehensive service to our Nexis users and this year we will add many more titles from Johnston and other publishers, which will bring our total UK and Irish newspaper coverage to over 500 titles.”

Andy Prior, Johnston Press Digital Product Manager, said: “Johnston Press is pleased to be working with LexisNexis to enable its editorial content to be made available to as wide an audience as possible.  Our 320 titles – which range in size from the Scotsman to much smaller weekly publications – already provide unrivalled coverage in their respective communities, so we know there is a need and audience for this information.”

Johnston Press plc is one of the three largest local newspaper publishers in the UK. Publishing quality local newspapers and internet sites produced by local teams to ensure that their news and information inform on and reflect the important issues for the communities they serve. Johnston Press titles cover communities from Peterhead in Scotland to Portsmouth in Hampshire, including Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

LexisNexis launch NexisDirect

Recently launched by LexisNexis, NexisDirect is a new way for professionals to get the facts they need from one of the world’s largest sources of news & business information.

NexisDirect has been developed to provide users who are not necessarily trained information professionals with an easy way to search premium content sources. Extensive testing has been carried out throughout development to incorporate specific user feedback and suggestions.

Bob De Laney, Director of News & Business in the UK, comments, “NexisDirect is a really exciting development for us.  Our core business intelligence solution, NexisUK, has been a favourite with information professionals for many years.  However, customers have told us that some users outside the library find the rich search functionality it offers too complex.  We’ve listened to that feedback and we’ve designed NexisDirect so that it does the search work behind the scenes, enabling users from any business function to find the facts they need in minutes.”

It will supplement NexisUK, the core business intelligence offering from LexisNexis.

This is an important development because it enables users to access high quality, reliable and reputable information that they can’t get for free online, without having to input very specific search codes or need training on a professional research product. Users such as consultants, analysts, business developers and marketing/PR professionals can get to the facts they need quickly and much more easily.

NexisDirect also minimises the risks to an organisation that stem from business decisions being made based on poorly-sourced information that is incorrect, has been obtained outside of proper licensing arrangements or is out of date.

LexisNexis has been providing news & business information for over 30 years to many of the UK’s leading blue chips, banks, law firms, PR agencies, media organisations and central government bodies.
